If my memory serves me well, about 70 thousand are those people, who went to vote, to not vote for anyone, which I do not believe. Because many people, where you have to turn to the other page, the box I white, on a white background, and if you stand straight, it\u2019s not visible. You have to sit down in order to see it well. And I\u2019m sure that many people, who didn\u2019t find it, have clicked and that\u2019s how the rejection happened. Many people in our party told me that that\u2019s what they did.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is what the chairman of GERB Boyko Borisov said during a press conference on October 4, 2022. The statement can be heard six minutes and thirty seconds after the start of the press conference.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fnovanewstv%2Fvideos%2F867818951291942%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\"  width=\"560\" height=\"314\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>CHECK:<\/h3>\n<p>In his speech, the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov suggested that the button for turning the page in the ballot in the voting machines was not visible well and, accordingly, voters didn\u2019t get to the options for choosing the parties and coalitions on the second page. Respectively, those who didn\u2019t see the party they wanted to vote for pressed the \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lex.bg\/laws\/ldoc\/2136112596\">Article 261 of the Electoral Code<\/a>, which determines the content of the ballot, states that \u201ca box for putting an \u2018X\u2019 or \u2018V\u2019, reflection the will of the voter, in which \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 is written, is placed just below all other attributes \u2013 the full and abbreviated name of the party or coalition and their corresponding squares. They are located on the left side of the ballot, and on the right are the circles with the numbers of the preferences \u2013 the choice of a specific candidate from the party list\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>These content and layout rules also apply to machine voting, where the ballot is exactly the same, but in an electronic version. Thus, the box \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 is last, in the case of the elections on October 2, 2022 \u2013 on the second page, after all parties and coalitions.<\/p>\n<p>This was explained in the explanatory campaign of the Central Electoral Commission in connection with the early parliamentary vote, and during TV appearances of members and speakers of the Commission during the pre-election campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In a video titled \u201cHow to vote with a machine \u2013 step by step\u201d posted on the Commission\u2019s official Youtube channel on August 29, 2022, at 1:53, the \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 box is seen as the last option on the last, second page of the ballot.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M74_8KDHAQk\" title=\"YouTube video player\"  width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During his appearance on \u201cThis Saturday\u201d on BTV on the day before the elections (October 1, 2022), the deputy chairman and spokesman of the Central Electoral Commission Tsvetozar Tomov made a demonstration vote by machine. It can also be seen here that the option \u2018I do not support anyone\u2019 is last, on the second page of the ballot, after all parties, coalitions and independent candidates.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/embed.btv.bg\/lbin\/global\/embed.php?v=2112860515\"  width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During the election campaign, a machine voting simulator was available for use on the Central Electoral Commission website. This simulator can still be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cik.bg\/suemg_02.10.2022\/\">HERE<\/a>. Here as well it\u2019s obvious that the option \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 is the last.<\/p>\n<h3>Fact checked:<\/h3>\n<p>The \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 option on the ballot for the elections on October 2, 2022, is last, after all parties, coalitions and independent candidates, and is on the second page when voting by machine. This fact refutes the claim of GERB chairman Boyko Borisov that some of the people who chose \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 did so because they did not find the button to go to the next page of the ballot. If those people couldn\u2019t find that button, then they couldn\u2019t choose \u2018I don\u2019t support anyone\u2019 either, because the options for that choice was on the second page of the ballot.
